Description
The Rheem-Ruud 47-102473-02 Limit Switch is a protection mechanism applied in most of the gas water heaters and furnaces. In connection with that, to avoid an overheating issue, it has the ability of switching off the heating element if temperatures reach unsafe levels. This limit switch has two setting and it is all about the temperature. It usually turns off (NC) at 150°F which permits the system to run. But if the temperature gets to 170°F the thermostat changes its position to the off or No position breaking the circuit and stopping the heating. In case the unit is cold, the switch returns to the ‘on’ position hence enabling continuation of the operation. This limit switch compatible with a wide range of Rheem and Ruud HVAC, is crucial to maintain the high efficiency of the system and avert possible destructions from high heat.
