The Rheem-Ruud 47-21711-10 Limit Switch is safety item which is intended to measure temperatures in systems used to heat and cool residences and commercial buildings. The auto-reset limit switch has Normally Close contact that operates at 150°F and Normally Open contact at 170°F though the operating voltage is 230V AC. Weighing just 0. 15 lbs, it is easy to install to a variety of heating and cooling systems. The primary task of this limit switch is to prevent the HVAC to go beyond the safe operating temperatures. At a temperature of the system reflected by N/C contact at 150°F the switch ‘breaks’ the circuit to avoid additional heating. When the temperature increases to 170°F, the N/O contact makes to serve as a back up safety switch.
