The Trane SHE5359 15.75” Groove-Coosed Sheave is a single-groove cast iron sheave suitable for use in HVAC equipment. Sheaves are grooved wheels that when used in pairs with belts, transmit rotation from one wheel to another. The belt runs in the groove of the sheave and through this rotates the sheave in another pulley or shaft. This is because the bore diameter of the cylinder is 1.19” which enables the SHE5359 to take a particular shaft size. Compressors, blowers and fans within HVAC arrangements are often operated using sheaves. The sheave in question is made of cast iron, which provides this particular piece not only sturdiness but also long service.
